This is a smile that lights up the room. Shifla is one of TVM's most popular presenters. She's just back from covering a tourism fair in Switzerland where the Maldives was promoting its sumptuous resorts as a getaway for Europeans. Like all the newscasters, she reports, anchors, produces and can function as a one-person band.I've been staying up at night to review airchecks of all the talent, trying to figure out the new anchor lineup. Not difficult in English, but more challenging in a language that I don't speak so I rely on feedback from the GM and ND.
This will be an easy choice. Shifla will be the morning anchor because, as one manager told me, people like her.
