Earthquake?

In all of the anchor drama I forgot to note that our Sunday TV training was interrupted when one of the reporters got a phone call saying there had been an earthquake in Indonesia, and that people were calling the station to report shaking in Male.
End of training as we all dashed back to the newsroom fearing that the next tsunami was on the way. As the news staff checked with authorities, we discussed the importance of going on the air to let people know we had received a lot of calls about the shaking and we were checking it out. Later, we interrupted programming again to say that there was a 6.0 shaker in Indonesia, but with no apparent impact for Maldives. Authorities had no idea what might have caused the shaking that was even felt by people in the TV station.
Male, however, is built on a coral crust that is cracked and sinking, so you never know.
The radio people did not do anything on this and couldn't understand why TV got so excited about it.
