Election Coaching Package

While putting together an election coverage coaching package for TV Maldives, it occurs to me that some US stations might want a pre-November tune-up for their on-air talent. There's a lot at stake in this presidential year and you want your anchors and reporters to be on top of their game. Your custom coaching package can include a special focus on political live shots and election night results. It's an opportunity for viewers to sample your product and you want all of your people to be at their very best. A maximum return on your coaching investment!

On the Road Again

Frequent flier and hotel points stretched our pitiful dollars in Europe. We had a great family trip through Spain and Portugal with a stop in Paris on the way back. Now, Andrew and I are packing our bags for the Maldives.

Family Time

I couldn't do this work without the support of my family. Here's a picture of our Mother's Day breakfast in Long Beach.
My son Andrew will go to Maldives with me. TVM has graciously allowed him to do an internship on the foreign desk, covering business news.
But first we are taking some much needed family time. This blog will resume when Andrew and I leave for Maldives at the end of June.

Back to Maldives!

The contract is signed for a return visit to TV Maldives! I leave for Male on June 30. I can hardly wait to see everyone in the newsroom. I hear they have been doing well in my absence, even televising the main opposition party's primary debate. Some naysayers have dismissed the changes at TVM as "cosmetic" and it is true that some of the changes ARE cosmetic. However, many of the changes are also substantive, now that the journalists have the editorial freedom to cover the news and not just read press releases.
I've been keeping up with developments in Maldives through the Thursday Brief published weekly by the Ministry of Legal Reform, Information and the Arts. It looks like the election is on track for early August, but there is not a specific date as far as I know.

LA's Hottest Hair Stylist

I can't leave LA without a stop at Salon de Melange.

If you need an on-camera hairstyle, this is the place to go. J.R. has been doing my hair since I started anchoring at KTLA and you never know what TV host or rising star you will see in the shop. He is a true artist when it comes to highlights. But he is amazing with every type of hair and lectures all over the world on a special straightening procedure. The salon in Larchmont Village is being remodeled and J.R. is also developing his own hair care line. I'm glad I discovered him early before he gets too famous!
