The morning meeting at TVM is a full house this week. Here's the latest batch from the atoll bureaus. I hope we'll get out to see one of these bureaus before our time here is over. Anchor Shifla and producer Hafsey (center of table on the right) are doing a great job with the morning show devoted to atoll news and they are running the morning meeting as well.
Update: We are learning that the atoll reporters face a lot of logistical problems when covering stories. They have to cover great distances between islands with no money for boat or plane tickets. When trying to get around on a large island they have to balance the video equipment on a motorcyble and pay for their own gas. This is a hardship and they shouldn't be dipping into their own paycheck to cover the news. Some of these reporters support large extended families that in some cases have been homeless since the 2004 tsunami.
