Island Life
Nearly everyone we meet in Male is from one of the islands and is very nostalgic for "the life" they left behind. There is usually a gathering place on the waterfront made out of palm logs. This is where people (mostly men) pass the time, discussing the news and gossip of the day. These net chairs, called "joli" are a lot more comfortable than they look. Another way to relax and pass the time. I even tried out a tree swing.
I'm a journalist, media trainer and talent coach. I've anchored the news for KFI-AM. KTLA-TV and KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, WCBS-TV in New York. I hosted a national news show for America's Talking and have reported for local stations in Chicago, Houston, Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami, West Virginia, Rhode Island and West Palm Beach. I taught broadcast journalism at USC's Annenberg School for Communication before starting my own consulting company. Now I'm a journalism educator who coaches television news anchors and reporters for TV and online video. My coaching visits will take me throughout the U.S., Canada and the world.
