Fishmarket Video on Youtube

Notice how many people are capturing video on their cellphone cameras while the bodies of five dead workers are being pulled out of the pit.
This video was obtained by a radio reporter and posted on YouTube. However, it was not shared with TVM, more proof that the two organizations would have a lot to gain by working together.
More information: While I've been kind of tough on the radio people, I have to praise the excellent news website they have. They post some good reporting, including a powerful picture of the fish market victims before they went down into the pit to their deaths. The link is http://www.vom.gov.mv/dralive/news.php
Unfortunately, it's only in Dhivehi and I wish there were an English page for the top stories. It's some of the best reporting in the Maldives!
It should be standard procedure for TVM to check this web site every day to see what could be developed into a television story. And there have been cases where a radio reporter posted a great story on the web site but never did it for the broadcast. Example: the Youth Ship that was cruising the entire country became a target for protest on one island where the locals felt that the relocation of tsunami victims had caused problems like crime and drugs. The story was posted on the web site, but never heard on radio.
