Never a dull moment

This was going to be a post about the first free TV time given to political parties on the state-run TV station. It is truly historic for a country where opposition parties were never shown on TV until a few months ago. Here you see the program for the Islamic Democratic Party. TVM is allowing four 15-minute blocks of free campaign time per day, which means every party will get on the air every two or three days.
But then... breaking news! The Finance Minister, who also happens to be one of the richest men in Maldives, resigned his post. He says he is resigning due to the huge budget problems facing the country. But we'll have to wait to see if he has some other political plans. No telling how many candidates will have their hats in the ring by the time the election officially gets underway.
We are required to count the number of times each candidate appears on TVM news, and tonight I met with the IT department to develop a computer program for that.
