Ventured out to the Bayswater Arms pub for a true English breakfast. It actually looks better than it was, the eggs were burned and toast was cold, and the vegetarian version featured some kind of fake sausage. Oh well, the servers were friendly and didn't even laugh when I fumbled with the money. Breakfast cost about $10, and yesterday's lunch with Catherine was nearly $70 for sandwiches and coffee. Some things are a bargain. 
Only about eight bucks for a pass to ride the underground all day, and everyone on the tube is reading the free Evening Standard newspaper.
Frankly, the food hasn't been great, so I decided I couldn't go wrong by heading for the legendary Harrod's Food Halls. Bought a yummy mozarella panini that I took back to the apartment and I'll try the goat cheese and spinach quiche for breakfast tomorrow. Never thought of making quiche with goat cheese!
At Harrod's I rode the Egyptian escalator, a marvel of art nouveau meets King Tut, which is hard to capture in photos. At the bottom is a memorial to Princess Di and the boyfried who died with her, Dodi Fayed, son of the owners of Harrod's. This was also hard to capture on film because of the number of tourists jockeying for position. This was the best I could do.
